Don't Murder Me
I am pretty much done with the grading system.
Just essential GD here
they have that kaleidoscope vibe with TC in the mix.
No time machine but I am just off the rail moshing all the same..
there is much highlights here
no acoustic set per say
but the vibe is there
when a string breaks
Weir leads a mainly acapella Monkee & the Engineer
first political history is morphed & distorted
and then cultural continuity is NOT far behind.
Render to Caesar what is Caesar's
But always unashamedly crank the music .
C. Freedom. - 2021
I want to disturb my neighbor
cause I am feeling so right
want to turn up my disco
to the full watts tonight
This show is in the same freewheeling spirit
as Valentine's 70 which was part of my gold standard
of road trip tapes in the front seat
of my 72 Baby Blue Chevy Vega.
Does feel like a virgin Sugar Magnolia jam
in the sweet TIGHTEN UP
"If I can't dance I don't want to be part of your revolution,"
and yes it is 5 million stars...

Bob was such a talented guitar player. So talented that Jerry and Phil wanted to kick him out of the band for his guitar playing in Oct '68. Just sayin
I love Bob but let's not get carried away

One of the greatest Dark Stars ever recorded?
If not, certainly one of my all-time favorites. The jam they embark on after the spacey interlude truly catches fire, and the boys keep it burning through an excellent Feelin Groovy jam, AND THEN top it off with an incendiary Tighten Up jam, peaking multiple times along the way. I believe you can hear Bobby taking a solo during the Tighten Up sequence, and it goes to show what a talented player he was in his own right. An absolutely shining example of the caliber of free form playing these guys were capable of. Gotta love any 1970 show, especially one at the Fillmore. Easilly the peak year for the group IMHO.

Starts out great, with nice harmonies, but it never takes off into instrumental wonderfulness. The Dark Star uses a lot of minimalism and negative space, which is an interesting sound art idea but not as fun to listen to as the jams from, say, early '69.

Fabulous Kick-Off for 1970
The beginning of the most important (IMHO) year for the Dead. TC is way up in there, mix-wise. Bear is at the faders and knobs for this very good quality soundboard.
